Ti Top (Titov) Island, situated in the middle of Halong Bay and approximately 4 sea miles southeast of Bai Chay Cruise Port, is one of the most popular destinations for both foreign and domestic visitors to Halong Bay.
After the Russian astronaut Gherman Titov on his first visit to Halong Bay in 1962, the name Ti Top was called by President Ho Chi Minh, the most admirable hero of Vietnam.
Unlike other popular tourist places in Halong Bay, Ti Top Island is also a beautiful beach named Ti Top, perfect for beach activities as well as a breathtaking view of the romantic scenery.
As one of the attractions closest to the tourist port, Ti Top Island has golden sand in the shape of a crescent moon, overlooking the front is Bo Hon Island, on the right is Dam Nam Island. According to French documents and maps of the late 19th century, Ti Top used to be called Cat Nang island or Red Cross island. There is an opinion that Ti Top Island would be like hundreds of other islands of Ha Long Bay if it weren't for Uncle Ho naming the island.
Many decades after the event that Uncle Ho and Titov visited Ha Long Bay and named the island, Ti Top Island is no longer wild but has changed a lot. It is likened to one of the symbols of the Vietnam-Russia friendship and one of the most famous islands in the Heritage-World Wonder of Ha Long Bay. Every day, the island regularly welcomes domestic and international tourists to come here to enjoy the scenery, swim and listen to the story of the Hero of the Soviet Cosmonaut Gherman Titov and the legend of the island's name.
