There are innumerable stories about Halong Bay's islets, which number in the hundreds and come in a variety of shapes and sizes. There are two unique chicken-shaped rocks among those gorgeous islets, one rooster and one hen facing each other in the center of Halong's turquoise water and mild breeze. That is the Rooster - Hen Islet or Kissing Rocks. Many people also call them Fighting Cock Rocks.
They are not simply Halong's insignia, but also the symbols of ardent love. While some people refer to these rocks as Battling Chicken Rocks because they appear to be fighting one other, others refer to them as Kissing Rocks. However, the Quang Ninh Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism issued a written proposal on the unification of the name "Rooster-Hen Islet" instead of "Fighting cock islet". The document also agreed on how to write "Rooster-Hen" (with a dash between "Rooster" and "Hen").The rocks have been facing one other for hundreds of thousands of years, as if in a never-ending love.
