Hu Tieu Nam Vang is a popular dish in Mekong Delta region of Vietnam, arguably even more so than Pho in some areas. Hu Tieu is a must-try dish made with pig broth, dried noodles, herbs, and minced pork. Different items, such as seafood, are added in some locations to improve the dish.
When most travelers hear the word "noodles" in Vietnam, they automatically think of Pho in Hanoi. However, there are dozens of great Vietnamese noodle meals that aren't Pho, such as Hu Tieu Nam Vang. While traveling the Mekong Delta, you will get the opportunity to sample a variety of Hu Tieu. This dish originated in Cambodia and has since gained popularity in Southern Vietnam.
The noodles used in Hu Tieu Nam Vang are thinner than other Vietnamese noodle soups and have a crispy, chewy, and distinct sour flavor. Hu Tieu Nam Vang is a noodle dish with pork, organs including liver and heart, quail eggs, and seafood (shrimp, dried squids, or mantis shrimp), as well as a pig bone broth. It's frequently accompanied by fresh garlic chives, lettuce, and bean sprouts. Depending on your preferences, you can also add chili sauce, lime, garlic pickles, or black bean sauce to the noodles.
